My positivity vest has worked!! 🎉
I can go home around 5pm…
Honestly, I am so very grateful to be allowed home at last, and I got all teary when the oncologist said I could 🥹
She is reasonably positive that this was a one-off, and that things should be much better next time.
To be honest, there’s a fair mixture of “right, let’s get on with this!!” and a little fear and trepidation that it might all go wrong again.
I suspect that’s probably quite normal after an experience like this. The next cycle will undoubtedly come with a few nerves, but at least I now know what to look out for, when to ask for help, and that the amazing NHS team here will be there if I need them.
So, for now, it’s time to swap the hospital bed for my own sofa, say hello to my family, and enjoy a proper cup of tea in my own kitchen ☕
I will miss having my food brought to me three times a day. To be honest, the lunchtime curries have been a treat, and the mug of tomato soup each day for supper has been comforting in a way only tomato soup can achieve 🥫
I’ve also just had a visit from the hospital pharmacist to check exactly what medications I need to take home. He is currently preparing my “party bag” of goodies to see me through the next few weeks.
I’m just hoping he remembers the important things… 🍰🎈
I’m not signing off just yet but will continue this blog, and hope it becomes a permanent record of this difficult time – and perhaps something that might help others going through something similar.
I have masses of ideas that I just need to coordinate in my head first!
Thank you to everyone who has sent messages, checked in, and followed along with this unexpected detour. Your kindness has genuinely helped me through some very dark and scary days.
