I had my second round of chemotherapy yesterday and, thankfully, everything went very smoothly.
My matching teal ensemble of a £2 headscarf and a favourite necklace teamed with my positivity vest was complimented by the nurses and even a fellow patient. I laughed and said, “This is the only chance I get to go out and play these days, so I might as well glam up!!”
It’s now Wednesday, and I’ve just had a telephone consultation with the oncologist. Overall, it was a really positive conversation.
She confirmed all the treatment I’d had yesterday and said that, for now, I should simply take things as they come and manage any side effects with the medication I’ve been given. The most important thing is to contact the hospital helpline straight away if anything doesn’t feel right or if I develop a temperature.
The best news is that my recent CT scan showed no sign of cancer anywhere else 🎉
The MRI also showed nothing beyond what they already knew from the mammograms and ultrasound, so there were no surprises there. My kidney scan from June was normal too, and my recent blood tests show that my kidneys have now fully recovered despite being so ill a couple of weeks ago.
The plan is to have another MRI after my third chemotherapy cycle to see how the treatment is working and decide on the next steps.
The oncologist also said that the chemotherapy combination I’m on is one of the toughest they give, but that I’m actually doing really well considering everything. I’ll definitely take that as a little win! 🌟
Walking into this cycle felt very different from the first one. Last time I had no idea what to expect; this time I knew there might be bumps in the road, but I also knew I’d got through them once already. There’s something reassuring about that.
Thank you to everyone who’s reading this blog, leaving comments, sending messages, or quietly following along. Your support really does make a difference.
And with this treatment now behind me, I’m officially one-third of the way through chemotherapy. After the next cycle, I’ll already be at the halfway point. Somehow that feels like a milestone worth celebrating.
Onwards… ❤️
